Course Overview
This online course is intended to provide the IEMLT learner with a foundational vocabulary in Latin and Greek terms having relevance to the medical laboratory profession. Using prior knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, the learner will develop competency in the use of Latin and Greek prefixes, roots and suffixes to recognize, interpret and report medical information relating to both states of health and disease.
Prerequisite(s)
- Prior Learning Assessment by the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science and/or evidence of employment with a medical laboratory.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify the roots, prefixes and suffixes composing common Latin and Greek medical terms.
- Combine Latin and Greek components to create medical terms.
- Relate Latin and Greek terminology to:
- anatomic components and
- physiological processes.
