Course Overview

Mechanical Desktop is an AutoCAD extension that contains tools for parametric part modelling, assembly modelling and drawing documentation. Topics include sketching, part features, design variables, part documentation, assemblies, and documentation of assembly designs.

Prerequisite(s)

AICO 2000 or equivalent (AICO 3001 recommended).

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Create parametric working drawings and assembly drawings.
Describe and use dimensional and assembly constraints.
Detail types of geometric constraints.
Compare under, fully, and over-constrained designs.
Set up a prototype drawing for parametric design.
Describe the advantages of parametric design.
