Course Overview
In this course students are immersed in a multiplatform newsroom environment. Students will learn to function in a working environment across platforms with deadlines. They will incorporate industry ethical and legal standards in their work. Students will operate and file audio, video, and digital content to all BCIT Newsroom platforms. Students will work together to create television news content.
Prerequisite(s)
- Successful completion of all other Level 1 and Level 2 courses in the Journalism program or Program Head's approval.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Produce effective news and current events stories for multiple platforms.
- Apply industry standards to writing for video, audio and digital stories.
- Apply legal and ethical standards to content creation.
- Demonstrate effective use of sound in audio and video production.
- Demonstrate effective audio and video presentation skills.
- Research and conduct engaging interviews with newsmakers.
- Work as a team to produce a TV News show.
- Demonstrate an understanding of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion principles in news coverage.
- Apply knowledge of safe, trauma-informed reporting practices in story creation.
