Course Overview
This introductory course provides learners with the knowledge and safety foundations needed to participate in a human-centred manufacturing environment with standardized processes to build prefabricated, high-performance panels. Students will explore the principles of off-site construction, the fundamentals of Net Zero design, factory safety practices, quality assurance, and collaborative production workflows.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain the purpose and benefits of off-site prefabricated construction for delivering high-quality housing.
- Describe the basic principles of Net Zero construction and their contribution to comfort, durability, energy efficiency, and resilience.
- Identify the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of workers in a construction microfactory.
- Recognize common hazards associated with factory-based construction and apply safe work practices.
- Demonstrate an understanding of safe material handling, lifting equipment, power tools, and ergonomic work practices.
- Explain the importance of safety culture, communication, teamwork, and individual accountability in a manufacturing environment.
- Describe the complete workflow of prefabricated wall panel production, from raw materials to finished panels.
- Explain how precision, standardization, documentation, and quality control influence manufacturing efficiency and building performance.
