Course Overview
This course introduces students to mass timber products and mass timber building systems. It will provide the learner with an understanding of the fundamental concepts related to the use of mass timber in construction, the properties and main uses of the primary mass timber products, and the main building systems that incorporate mass timber products. This course also introduces the learner to prefabrication and off-site construction as well as the main construction development phases of a mass timber building project.

- Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Define mass timber.
- Understand advantages of mass timber use in construction.
- Describe main uses of the main mass timber products.
- Identify differences and similarities between mass timber products.
- Recognize types of construction that incorporate mass timber components.
- Explain the concept of prefabrication.
- Recognize advantages of prefabrication.
- Describe particulars of each construction development phase of a mass timber building.
