Course Overview
Whether you are working in social media, print or traditional media, effective interviewing is an essential skill for gathering information for messaging and storytelling. This course explores the skills to conduct interviews for YouTube, podcasts, radio and TV. You will get hands-on experience and plan and execute interviews. Plus, you will examine ways to counteract messaging spin, deal with challenging interview subjects, and put interviewees at ease.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Design an interview plan.
- Design an effective interview on a tight deadline.
- Construct suitable questions for long-form interviews, such as podcasts and YouTube videos, and short-form interviews, such as broadcast news.
- Define elements of effective interviews and questions.
- Put interview subjects at ease.
- Counteract messaging spin through applying specific techniques.
- Describe challenges of interviewing celebrities and high profile subjects.
- Adjust an interview tone to match the interview topic.
- Speak confidently and have appropriate body language in front of a camera.
- Describe his or her strongest interviewing style and discuss its strengths and weaknesses.
- Conduct an effective interview of any topic and length.
