- International Fees
International fees are typically three times the amount of domestic fees. Exact cost will be calculated upon completion of registration.
Course details
This course continues to explore the Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools in SolidWorks Simulation software necessary to model, simulate and analyze mechanical parts and assemblies. The topics covered include advanced loading, large displacement, mixed meshing, FEA of assemblies with contacts, FEA of bolted/pinned structures, FEA of welded structures, design optimization with FEA, and frequency analysis of assemblies. Fatigue and non-linear analysis will be also presented at the introductory level.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Explain the limitations and applications of both linear static and non-linear FEA.
- Apply structural advanced loading to both parts and assemblies.
- Analyze pinned/bolted structures and assemblies using FEA software.
- Implement various mixed meshing techniques.
- Analyze welded structures and assemblies using FEA software.
- Determine the natural frequencies and mode shapes of components and assembles.
- Optimize designs of mechanical components and assemblies using FEA.
- Analyze non-linear behaviour of mechanical parts and assemblies due to structural large displacement.
Effective as of Winter 2014
