Course details

This course will apply the foundation material learned through the Fall Protection 2a course to practical training applications. The objective is to develop the student's awareness for safe work-at-height, basic rigging skills, rescue and emergency procedure awareness; with a focus on efficient practices with work-at-height. The course will emphasize the importance of effective teamwork, communication, and leadership.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Utilize proper control zones to protect a hazardous drop zone, drop proofing work at height, lanyards, netting.
  • Apply the theory of mechanical advantage and the application in hauling and raising systems through practical experience with hauling systems and team exercises.
  • Develop knot tying skills and application.
  • Use safety factor calculations.
  • Inspect fall protection and work at height equipment.
  • Develop fall protection plans, emergency response and rescue plans and mandatory for workers at height or in confined spaces.
  • Provide assistance for an injured worker in a reasonable time frame, but manage their own safety first, and ensure they are not going to make the situation worse.
