Course details

​This course explores the fundamentals of Earth systems and climate change. Learners cover core climate concepts (mitigation, adaptation, and resilience), and apply historical, social, and economic lenses to understand the drivers and inequities of climate change. From climate challenges, the course moves to solutions and climate action pathways. Key topics include Indigenous knowledge systems, planetary boundaries, and systems thinking.

Learning Outcomes

Upcome successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Describe foundations of Earth systems and climate science.
  • Evaluate the impacts of human systems on nature and climate.
  • Analyze the social and economic inequities of climate change.
  • Identify and explain climate solutions and action pathways.​
