Course Overview
This is an introductory course in the theory and application of consulting skills and problem solving. The intent of the course is to provide students with a set of tools that will help them solve unstructured business problems. While the course is not specific to the Information Technology industry, the methodologies taught are widely practiced by IT and Management Consultants

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the role a consultant plays and the skills required to be a successful consultant..
- Articulate how to find consulting work and the pros and cons of different client prospecting and pitching methods.
- Demonstrate with team based projects the skills required for dealing effectively with prospective and actual clients.
- Research stakeholder needs and write effective consulting proposals.
- Evaluate different pricing strategies and their strengths and weaknesses.
- Demonstrate the negotiating process and negotiation tactics.
- Propose ethical ways of dealing with dilemmas commonly faced by consultants
- Author effective consulting reports and perform professional client presentations.
