Course details

This intensive course is intended for applicants to the Bachelor of Technology degree in Computer Systems. The course covers two major topics: Object Oriented Analysis and Design and Object Oriented Programming using C++. The materials will be presented in an integrated approach. The goal of the course is to introduce and train the students with the Object-Oriented thought process, and allow the students to apply object-oriented analysis and design concepts into actual programming projects. The Unified Modeling Language (UML) will be utilized to document the design process. Topics include: C++ Fundamentals, Object Oriented programming in C++, Coding Standards, C++ Templates, Introduction to Design Patterns, and Object Oriented Analysis and Design.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Analyze, design and document projects using object-oriented techniques and technologies.
  • Use UML to appropriately model a project (using use case documents/diagrams, class diagrams, sequence diagrams and collaboration diagrams).
  • Understand object oriented modelling and programming concepts.
  • Develop and design C++ programs.
  • Explain, in terms of the C++ programming language, object-oriented programming concepts including: classes, objects, methods and encapsulation.
  • Use control statements, functions, arrays, pointers and strings.
  • Test and debug C++ program.
