Course details

​This course examines the role that community climate leadership plays in driving action. Effective climate action must bridge local engagement with global impact. As a result, climate leaders must understand how community, place, and scale impact climate action. In this course, learners reflect on their personal skills and values and develop climate communication competencies, with an emphasis on equity and empathy. The course draws on concepts from change management, values-based communication, and conflict resolution, connecting these approaches to community climate action.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Identify and describe personal skills and values that can be leveraged as a climate leader.
  • Explain climate leadership approaches and change management principles.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills that centers diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.
  • Use communication tools to find common ground, resolve conflict, and define shared purpose.
