Course Overview
This course provides the foundation for students’ workplace writing, speaking, and teamwork skills that they will use in their course work at BCIT and on the job. They will research best practices related to their discipline, use critical thinking skills to assess information, cite sources, and design and deliver a presentation. The course is project- based and gives students practice in teamwork skills. Through this course, students will gain techniques for making informative presentations and explaining ideas clearly, directly, and concisely.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Define specific objectives and audiences for a workplace communication.
- Write and speak clearly, concisely, and directly, using appropriate style and tone.
- Apply professional protocols for respectful communication in written and oral workplace messages
- Summarize published research in the field. (6.3.3)
- Apply discipline-specific citation styles when presenting research
- Participate effectively on a team
- Listening actively .
- Organizing efficient meetings and recording results.
- Resolving team conflicts
- Using teleconferencing to participate in virtual meetings.
- Deliver an informative presentation (in person/virtually).
- Follow the related communication principles to avoid Plagiarism.
