Course Overview
This is a non-credit workshop designed to give the student a taste of the three full-time diploma programs offered in BCIT's Broadcast and Media Communications. The course is 6 hours, divided into three 2 hour interactive workshops. Each workshop will be devoted to one of the three areas of study: Broadcast and Online Journalism, Television and Video Production, and Radio Arts and Entertainment. In each workshop the student will explore introductory concepts and hands-on technology specific to each program.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Broadcast and Online Journalism -related
- Read a news anchor script from a teleprompter
- Deliver a reporter live hit for a breaking news story
- Analyze the elements of an effective, focused story using journalistic principles
- Television and Video Production -related
- Explore overview of the full time program curriculum and how it applies to the job market
- Explore basics of visual composition and sequencing, and how they apply to storytelling
- Identify various options for training and career paths in the current employment environment
- Radio Arts and Entertainment-related
- Experience live radio broadcasting by taking part in a live show on our FM radio station, speaking on-air about topics they're passionate about
- Practice voiceover by recording a short script, using their voice effectively for radio and other media
- Gain an understanding of how to record and edit audio to create clear and professional-sounding content
