Advanced Design, Welding and Fabrication for Teachers TTED 5029

Technology Teacher Education Course

International Fees

International fees are typically three times the amount of domestic fees. Exact cost will be calculated upon completion of registration.

Course details

Students will learn SMAW, GMAW, TMAW and oxy/acetylene welding. They will also cut and braze using oxy/acetylene. Drawing from those skills, students will engage in a design process to develop a fabrication project appropriate to students' age/grade and at nominal cost e.g. $30. Alternately, students may fabricate a fixture(s), jig(s) or machine that can be used in a technology education class without welding facilities. Additionally, students will design and fabricate a tool or device appropriate to their school/grade level. As an example, this might include a fixture table to support student work in the shop. This table will be multi-use and adjustable to support work in a multitude of situations. Finally, all instruction and work will be performed with an emphasis on safety, and the development of practices that encourage safe operations throughout the typical high school shop.
