Course details
Students explore the fundamentals of working with RAW digital negatives acquired from DSLR Cameras. The focus of this course is on the processing tools within the develop module of Adobe Lightroom. This course will demonstrate how to produce high quality images that can be reproduced for multiple purposes. Topics include: colour theory as it relates to digital images, importing files to Adobe Lightroom, processing images in Adobe Lightroom, and exporting images from Adobe Lightroom for different uses. The course will be provided in a lecture/lab format with in-class exercises providing hands-on experience.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Differentiate between digital file types
- Describe the benefits of using the Camera RAW format
- Differentiate between destructive and non-destructive processing
- Edit a digital image using the appropriate additive or subtractive colour gamuts
- Crop, rotate, straighten and resize digital images
- Import files to Adobe Lightroom captured on a DSLR Camera
- Utilize Adobe Lightroom to develop RAW files
- Link between Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop CC for advanced retouching
- Export images from Adobe Lightroom
- Determine the appropriate resolution for a digital image depending on the output
- Save an image file in the appropriate file format depending on its content and usage
