On October 31st, BCIT’s Director of Sustainability and the Centre for Ecocities, Jennie Moore, presented to a convening of the International Ecocity Footprint Learning Lab, a collaboration led by York University in partnership with BCIT and the University of Iceland. The group met to discuss subnational scaled footprints, including defined geographies, institutions, and communities.
Jennie presented on the urban ecological footprint methodology she pioneered through her BCIT supported PhD studies at the University of British Columbia. Over 30 municipalities across the Province of BC now use this approach to report on their Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions. BCIT is also developing a badged course to deliver training on the method through flexible studies and as an option in BCIT graduate credentials.
A recording of the convening is online and also features Brynhildur Davíðsdóttir at University of Iceland; Eric Miller and Kiona Lo and Peri Dworatzek and Peter Victor at York University; and Danielle Letang at Rural Ontario Institute.
