Testimonial
“My attraction to MRI has been a product of my education, interest in working with people and sports background. The culmination of my undergraduate studies in Neurobiology, working in healthcare and hospitality and interest in injuries and concussions pointed me towards MRI. BCIT was my primary and easiest choice, as its reputation as a foundation builder for practical skills and knowledge and their introduction of a comprehensive first discipline MRI program drew me in completely. The best part of the program has been the instructors. Their cumulative decades of experience in MRI paired with their genuine enthusiasm towards the success of every student. is a shift in polarity from each of my two other completed post-secondary programs. Even the Program Head, Ray Lee, gets involved in labs and instruction, reflecting the effort that every person in the faculty put towards students graduating. Our cohort were able to build relationships with each of those instructors which made learning more comfortable and personable, motivating me to work even harder to make them proud.
I am currently in my second clinical term on Vancouver Island at Royal Jubilee and Victoria General Hospitals. Being from Greater Vancouver, I was unaware of the breadth of MRI scans performed at these facilities. From pediatrics to cardiac and breast imaging, all specialty scans, initially, I was nervous that I would be unprepared for the experience. Those nerves cooled like liquid helium when I arrived, as our simulator training, labs, discussions and instruction on those topics at BCIT was more than enough to feel confident and prepared for specialty imaging let alone routine.
What I love about MRI is helping patients get the care they need and supporting them through their individual challenges. Helping a claustrophobic patient get their head scan or encouraging a nervous teenager while they’re getting an IV started and seeing their pride once its done is as rewarding as it gets. Not to mention that being in the control room of an MRI machine feels akin to being in a video game. I am grateful to be one of the cohort reps for the program and to be a part of helping it grow for the success of current and future students. I have and will continue to recommend the first discipline MRI program at BCIT to anyone who is interested in and serious about becoming an MRI technologist, it is well worth it.”

Simulation within the MRI Program
As MRI Program Head, Ray knew that students need lots of practice to learn how to perform great MRI scans. But with limited access to physical scanners, they had to open their minds to new solutions.
They found their answer in Corsmed’s MRI simulator.
Today, BCIT is widely recognized for its exceptional MRI education program—and Corsmed has become a key ingredient in their secret sauce that enables graduates to scan from Day One.
Thanks to Corsmed, BCIT has been able to:
- Provide Lifelike MRI Scanning Practice, 24/7
- Train Clinic-Ready Graduates Who Scan from Day One
- Achieve a 100% Graduation and 100% Employment Rate
