Peer Tutoring

Peer tutoring and writing tutoring is available Monday to Thursday at the Burnaby Campus Library.

* Saturday and online availability depends on individual tutors.

Some tutors have shifts outside of the library – Architectural and Building Technology (ABT), Interior Design, and Nursing (Open Lab).

Tutoring times at satellite campuses (ATC, BMC, and DTC) and for some School of Health programs are based on program schedules.

For all programs, please check the online schedule for up-to-date information, including changes or cancellations.

There is no tutoring on stat holidays and limited tutoring for spring break and during the summer.

1. Log into the Learning Hub.
2. Scroll down to My Courses and find BCIT Peer Tutoring.
3. In the navigation bar, click on Activities and choose Class for Teams.
4. Click on the program name (e.g. Nursing), and click the Launch button for the day’s session.

Don’t forget to turn on your mic and/or camera after you enter the tutoring room.

Business math: most business tutors (except New Media and D3) can help with business math and business statistics.

Trades math: most of our engineering tutors can help with trades math and physics.
We recommend finding a tutor in a program similar to yours if they’re available. For example, an electrical trades student would go to an electrical engineering (ECET) tutor.

Peer tutors can:

• Review and apply concepts taught in class
• Offer feedback on non-graded assignments
• Direct you to other student support services if needed

Peer tutors will not:

• Help with graded assignments
• Tell you what will be on exams
• Explain course material that you haven’t looked at on your own
