South Campus Infrastructure Renewal Integrated Design Process – Part 2

Construction for BCIT’s South Campus Infrastructure Renewal Project is well underway, the culmination of years of planning and design. It combines major updates to underground infrastructure with upgrades to the public realm that enhance landscaping, accessibility, and sustainability.
The completed project will also prepare the Burnaby Campus for future development by addressing critical infrastructure needs, replacing utility systems, and realigning utility corridors, in a way that integrates with and anticipates future developments such as the daylighting of Guichon Creek.
The complex mixture of underground work and landscaping creates design challenges and opportunities. In this Living Labs Lecture the design team will discuss the design process that translated the vision for the project into complex engineering and architectural solutions.
The team will explore the role of engagement with project partners in the design process and the use of software tools for collaboration to create a buildable design.
