Description: In recent years, there has been extensive research done to examine the perspectives of deaf students, deaf professionals and interpreters. Proposed solutions as best practices are now provided in the academic literature including ways to improve deaf student learning and in-depth understanding of the interpretation process. Historical context and success stories will be looked at as examples.
Presenter: Jamie Finley has been a research assistant with Natural Health and Food Products Research Group (NRG) since December 2007 and is involved in applied research of quality control of products, process improvement and method validation. As a BCIT student and researcher Jamie has lived experience in STEM topics from accessibility perspectives.
