From Nursing to Informatics: A Transformative Digital Health Journey
The BCIT Digital Health Advanced Certificate has been an absolutely transformative experience. The program was instrumental in giving me a solid foundation in health informatics, bridging the gap between my clinical nursing background and my passion for digital health. The classes were online and easy to fit into my schedule, the educators were excellent, and I found the courses immediately applicable to my new role as a Clinical Informatics Specialist. I would highly recommend it to any healthcare professional looking for growth into the ever-evolving digital health landscape.

Set up for Success
Originally a Dentist from Hyderabad, India, I found that DHAC paved the way for me to transition from Dentistry to Digital Health. I felt thoroughly prepared and well supported for the real-world demands of this field. My personal take is that this program offers the value of a Master’s for less than half the time and resources.
As it was fully online, I was able to complete the program full-time even while working over 40 hours a week. The course structure is thoughtfully designed and incredibly practical. I particularly enjoyed the guest lectures, group discussions, and team assignments allowed for a collaborative learning environment and exposure to diverse perspectives. The faculty aren’t just academics; they’re industry experts with decades of real-world experience. I also want to highlight that the program director is always keen to gather feedback from students, with a dedication to continually improving the course and making it more student-friendly.
Lastly, the capstone project at the end was a standout experience for me. It actually introduced me to the wonderful team I now get to work with every day! This experience not only laid a strong foundation for my current role but also allowed me to get to know my colleagues and the nature of the work before I even officially started.
I am thankful for the doors this program opened for me. It truly sets you up for success in health informatics jobs all over Canada.
