Plan ahead – FIFA World Cup 2026

The FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off on June 11, with matches, fan zones, and increased tourist activity planned across the lower mainland through July 19.

All BCIT campuses, including the Downtown Campus, remain operational throughout this time. If you are planning to travel to the BCIT Downtown Campus, we encourage you to factor in additional commuting time and consider walking/wheeling, biking, or transiting to the downtown core. For transit updates and service adjustments, please visit Translink.

With matches taking place at BC Place Vancouver, increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic is expected in and around the downtown area throughout the tournament period. Increased traffic is also expected around the FIFA Fan Festival at the PNE Amphitheatre, particularly along Hastings Street and in the surrounding area.

Road closures

The tournament period begins with event set-up starting May 23 and ends with takedown at the end of July. During this time, Pacific Blvd will be closed between the Cambie St Bridge off-ramp and Carrall St.

On each of the seven match days, there will be additional temporary road closures and restrictions in the stadium-area.

For detailed information, refer to these maps and resources outlining tournament-period and match-day related road closures.
