BCIT alumni are invited to attend the BCIT Alumni Association’s 2026 BCIT Alumni Association Annual General Meeting and Feature Presentation on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Mike Battistel, President, Cascadia Windows & Doors
Architectural Building Engineering Technology, 2019

Mike Battistel is an industry innovator and president of Cascadia Windows & Doors who has led his company to earn over 50 industry awards and a top 10 ranking among the most innovative companies in British Columbia by BC Business. Under his leadership, Cascadia has become known for Net Zero Building Technology and for developing some of the highest environmentally sustainable performance building envelope products in the industry. A proud BCIT alumnus of the Carpentry and Architectural Building Technology programs, Mike has hired over 400 BCIT graduates and volunteers on the BCIT Alumni Association board of directors.

Andy and Jessica Nguyen, Co-founders, Bak’d Cookies

Andy and Jessica Nguyen are the sibling co-founders of BAK’D Cookies, a Metro Vancouver brand built on resilience and complementary entrepreneurial leadership. Launched during the early days of the COVID pandemic, the business emerged when Jessica’s post-graduation plans shifted and Andy, then a teenage baker, turned his passion for food science into opportunity. Together, they combined strategy and creativity to grow BAK’D from home-baked batches into a beloved cookie brand. Jessica leads business strategy, branding, and partnerships, while Andy drives product development and operations. Their people-first, community-focused approach culminated in the opening of BAK’D’s New Westminster storefront in 2024.

Carolynn RyanSenior Vice-President, People & Chief Human Resources Officer, BC Hydro
Human Resource Management, 1998

Carolynn Ryan is an accomplished and versatile human resources leader with 25+ years’ experience in human resource, organizational, change and talent management disciplines including recruitment, job evaluation, learning, compensation, employment equity, and human rights.

As the Senior Vice-President, People & Chief Human Resources Officer at BC Hydro, Carolynn lives by the motto “lead, learn, share” recognizing that when we lead by example, learn from one another are open to sharing our knowledge and experience, we all grow.

Carolynn has a Master of Industrial Relations, Human Resource Management and Labour Relations, from Queens University, a Human Resource Management Certificate, from British Columbia Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Arts, Psychology, from University of British Columbia.

With an executive career spanning global organizations including The Walt Disney Company, Vivendi, Ritchie Bros., and Vancity, Kenton brings a strategic and results-driven perspective shaped by leading high-performing teams, navigating complex change, and building strong organizational cultures. Drawing upon his depth of experience, he will guide the panel through an engaging discussion on how leadership excellence is developed over time and strengthened through challenge, reflection, and purposeful action.
