BCIT Environmental Public Health (EPH) Learning Lunch Hour!

The Learning Lunch Hour is a virtual space that connects anyone interested in environmental public health with EPH professionals and experts. Providing a comprehensive overview of the various aspects and roles within the field, the Learning Lunch Hour aims to foster an environment of shared learning and professional growth.

March Guest Speaker is Erin Nielsen, First Nations Health Authority, manager North region. Erin will be speaking her journey and career in Environmental Public Health. Erin is a 4th generation white settler of mixed European ancestry. She is honoured to live, work and play on the unceded and ancestral territory of the Lheidli T’enneh, also known as Prince George.

Erin is a certified Environmental Health Officer that graduated from BCIT’s Environmental Public Health (EPH) Program in 2014 and has spent her entire career in northern BC, including her practicum. Starting as an EHO with Northern Health in the rural/remote community of Vanderhoof in 2014, she soon joined the FNHA family in Prince George in 2017 as a field EHO. In July 2022, Erin assumed a leadership role and is currently the Regional Manager for EPH Services in FNHA’s northern region.

Erin is a mother of a 5 year old (Rown) and a fur baby (Finn). She is passionate about the health of the environment and the people within it. She feels immense privilege to work with and learn from the First Nations communities in the northern region.
