Exchange Experience: Emma Massullo
“I participated in the BCIT INTD Exchange Program in 2024, and it was truly the best decision I have ever made and one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I made lifelong friendships and built connections with students from all over the world. There were lots of opportunities to travel throughout Europe, both in school trips and personal travel. These experiences were so inspiring and gave me a more global perspective on design.
Attending HAWK was such a wonderful experience. The professors and students were incredibly welcoming and supportive. There was so much value in working with students from another culture and learning different design approaches. We worked on exciting, real-life projects, including redesigning an interior architecture campus hallway and building our design. In an international studio, we collaborated with architecture students to create a bold proposal to transform a real campus attic into a new student space. Model-making was also a big part of the program, and the campus offers amazing workshops and tools that students are encouraged to use.
This exchange shaped me as both a designer and a person. It expanded my creativity, confidence, and global outlook, and it has added so much value to my future career. I highly recommend this opportunity to anyone considering it.”
