Overview

If you’re passionate about vehicles, technology, and hands-on problem-solving, BCIT’s Ford ASSET (Automotive Student Service Educational Training) Apprenticeship program offers a unique opportunity to develop in-demand skills while receiving specialized training on Ford vehicles and systems. Developed in partnership with Ford Motor Company, the program combines apprenticeship technical training with manufacturer-specific learning, helping apprentices build expertise that is highly valued in today’s automotive industry.

Throughout the program, you’ll learn how to inspect, diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, brakes, electrical systems, heating and air conditioning, and advanced electronic technologies. You’ll gain experience using industry-standard diagnostic equipment and software while developing the troubleshooting skills needed to work on increasingly sophisticated vehicles, including hybrid and electric models.

The Ford ASSET component of the program provides additional training focused on Ford products, technologies, and service procedures, including the 5 STARS Ford technician certifications. This specialized learning gives apprentices exposure to manufacturer-specific systems and diagnostic processes, helping them develop knowledge that can be applied in Ford dealerships and other automotive service environments. By combining apprenticeship training with Ford-focused education, students graduate with a strong foundation in both general automotive repair and manufacturer-specific technology. Students must already be employed by a Ford dealership in order to gain admission into this program.
