overview
Designed for existing executives and aspiring leaders in charities and other nonprofit organizations, this new program enables nonprofit professionals to effectively and efficiently improve organizational performance. Throughout Canada and the United States, and increasingly world-wide, the nonprofit sector is growing and assuming more responsibility for delivering community-based services. This program provides context-specific knowledge and skills for those already working in a nonprofit organization, and those wishing to pursue a career in the voluntary sector.
The Program
This program features BCIT's unique blend of academic learning and applied skills. Courses focus on unique leadership skills for nonprofit managers, financial management skills, learning the art of people management in a volunteer environment, marketing, government relations, fundraising, and legal requirements and governance. All courses are offered online to enable students with demanding schedules the flexibility to study wherever and whenever they wish.
This Nonprofit Management Associate Certificate program requires learners to obtain a minimum of 24 credits by completing both required and elective courses. Courses may be taken in any order provided that the learner has completed the prerequisites for any course in which he or she wishes to register. Students may choose to register in more than one course in a given term. Alternatively, a learner may defer his or her studies to a future term, provided that course work is completed within seven years of beginning the program.
