Provides instruction in the production and interpretation of orthographic and isometric drawings as they apply to the hydronic system, and flow diagrams and general assembly drawings. Formal drafting techniques including board skills will be covered. Related terms, symbols and call-out bubbles will be discussed. An introduction to AutoCAD will be included. Passing Grade is 70%

Trains those working with hot water heating to properly design a residential hot water heating system to meet the guidelines established by the Residential Hot Water Heating Association of BC. After successful completion of the Certification Exam, students can, for a fee, register with the TECA as being Certified in Hydronic Systems Design. Passing grade is 70%. Prerequisite: Should be working with residential hot water heating systems or a related field.

Provides a practical understanding of direct and alternating current, series and parallel circuits. Covers the analyzing of circuits using ohms law and multimeters. Ladder diagrams and electrical code will also be covered. Passing grade is 70%.

Provides a practical introduction to the installation of hydronic systems; including installation planning, mechanical room layout and installation of heat transfer units. Safe work practices will be applied to proper piping procedures and techniques. Passing grade is 70%.

A practical introduction to the installation of controls involved with hydronic systems including control strategies, installation procedures and techniques, safe work practices, and commissioning. This course includes instruction on how to install and commission a functioning hydronic control system. Passing grade is 70%.

Designed for tradespersons actively working in the residential hydronic heating industry. Helps prepare them to service and troubleshoot systems that have been designed and installed to meet the guidelines of the Residential Hot Water Heating Association. Emphasis will be on hands-on servicing in the training lab. Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of the concept of hot water heating. Passing grade is 70%.

Prepares students to write the examination to qualify for the Gas Fitter "B" Certificate of Qualification and is a requirement of the BC Safety Authority. To become eligible to write the exam, approval from the BC Safety Authority is required and recommended before enrolling. A Provincial Class B Examination fee is additional. Passing grade is 70%. Prerequisite: be the holder of an industry training credential (TQ, IP) in plumbing, steam fitting, refrigeration or sprinkler fitting.

This water related course teaches the hydraulic principles of backflow combined with testing of backflow prevention assemblies.
