Course Overview
The student will be introduced to the principal techniques for establishing desired species of vegetation on forest land in B.C. Students will be able to describe critical elements for successful establishment such as site receptivity, treatment timing, care of living material, planting site selection, planting technique and site monitoring. This course also provides the training required to assess work quality, minimize fire risk, and maintain environmental standards during planting projects.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Discuss the impact of unsuitable site or timing on achieving regeneration objectives.
- Apply seed as directed and assess quality of seeding.
- Demonstrate correct spot selection and planting technique.
- Assess planting quality using the BC Ministry of Forests Planting Quality Inspection System.
- Assess worker and crew productivity.
- Demonstrate how to avoid injury during planting.
- Identify various seedling stocktypes.
- Describe how seed and seedlings are best stored and handled.
- Plan work to achieve requirements for work quality, safety and productivity.
