
Applications for the 2026-2027 StrongerBC Future Skills Grant program are now open. The StrongerBC Future Skills Grant helps British Columbians access affordable and flexible training opportunities to build in-demand skills needed for careers in growing sectors.
Eligible British Columbians can receive up to $3,500 toward approved short-term training programs. Aligned with the Province’s Look West strategy, the grant supports workforce development in high-demand sectors that are critical to BC’s economic growth and resilience. Since launching in 2023, the Stronger BC Future Skills Grant has supported more than 16,500 learners throughout the province.

I have been able to develop skills that are directly applicable to my current role and that also prepare me to take on new challenges. I feel more confident in my role due to the knowledge I gained through courses funded by the grant.”
For Andrew Brindle, the StrongerBC Future Skills Grant provided the financial support he needed to complete his studies at BCIT and quickly move into a new job opportunity.

Drone Applications for Environmental Risk Assessment Microcredential
This microcredential covers safe drone operation, site surveying, mission planning, and environmental data collection. Learners gain hands-on experience with photogrammetry, multispectral and thermal imagery, and GIS analysis.
Early Recognition Rapid Action (ERRA) of the Deteriorating Patient
This course helps nurses identify, assess, and respond to rapidly deteriorating patients. Learners develop evidence-based assessment and clinical decision-making skills applicable across acute, community, rural, and non-acute care settings.
Entrepreneurship in Healthcare

Essentials of Net-Zero and Passive House Construction Microcredential
This microcredential is for individuals who want to gain the skills and knowledge to construct high-performance buildings to meet the BC Energy Step Code, Net-Zero Energy, and Passive House standards. Learners gain understanding on building enclosures, electrical and mechanical systems, and processes and considerations for these new codes and standards.
Healthcare Product Management and Ownership
This course focuses on applied healthcare product practice across both public-sector healthcare organizations and private-sector health technology companies. Learners develop the skills, frameworks, and judgment needed to implement and/or lead digital health products effectively in environments shaped by regulation, patient safety, clinical workflows, and complex stakeholder ecosystems.
Sexual and Reproductive Health Foundations Microcredential
This microcredential provides the foundation for delivering person-centered sexual healthcare in the areas of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and contraceptive care. Intended learners include registered nurses, registered midwives, registered psychiatric nurses (with approval), and nursing students in their final year of their program.
Sexual Health Rehabilitation Microcredential
This microcredential is one-of-a-kind in Canada and developed in collaboration with Vancouver Coastal Health’s Sexual Health Rehabilitation Service. Learners will develop skills to provide psychoeducation and support to patients in a way that is person-centred, culturally safe, and trauma informed.
Thermal Power Plant Simulation Proficiency Microcredential
The microcredential helps enhance safety, sustainability, cost-efficiency, and the environment. The program is designed for power engineers and process operators who intend to challenge higher levels of Power Engineering certification. It can also benefit internationally trained engineers who intend to apply for registration as power engineers. Learners gain understanding in mastering emergency response, optimizing workflows, and boosting plant efficiency.
