The Building Science Centre of Excellence (BSCE) provides advanced research and educational support to the construction industry in the areas of material property measurement and characterization, hygro-thermal modeling and measurement of building envelope systems, and integrated analysis of whole-building performance with the objective of designing a building that is energy efficient, durable, economical, environmentally friendly, and provides comfortable and healthy indoor air quality to occupants.

The Centre’s methodology encompasses a multidimensional approach, employing a combination of computer models, experimental investigations, and field monitoring. These methodologies operate across various scales, ranging from the material level, to the envelope level, to the whole-building level, and even extending to the urban city level

Through computational modeling, the BSCE can provide insight into the performance and behavior of buildings in diverse contexts. Experimental investigations and field monitoring conducted by the BSCE are instrumental in grounding theoretical insights in real-world scenarios. This multifaceted approach allows the Centre to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in the construction industry. Through its ambitious research initiatives and educational endeavors, the Centre propels the industry towards a future where structures are built to harmonize the needs of occupants, the environment, and the broader societal landscape.
