Funding Agencies

The BSCE gratefully acknowledges funding support from its sponsors. Major funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and Western Economic Diversification Canada has allowed the BSCE to build research capacity and essential infrastructure.

Natural Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada

Pacific Economic Development Canada (PacifiCan) is the regional development agency focused on British Columbia’s evolving economy. PacifiCan leads in building a strong, competitive Canadian economy by supporting business, innovation and community economic development unique to British Columbia.

Canada Research Chairs Program

The Canada Research Chairs program stands at the centre of a national strategy to make Canada one of the world’s top countries in research and development. The Canada Research Chairs program invests $300 million per year to attract and retain some of the world’s most accomplished and promising minds. Chairholders aim to achieve research excellence in engineering and the natural sciences, health sciences, humanities, and social sciences. They improve our depth of knowledge and quality of life, strengthen Canada’s international competitiveness, and help train the next generation of highly skilled people through student supervision, teaching, and the coordination of other researchers’ work.

BC Knowledge Development Fund

The B.C. Knowledge Development Fund (BCKDF) supports the development of research infrastructure, like labs and equipment. The BCKDF helps B.C.’s institutions attract researchers, skilled technicians, and research users. Supporting research infrastructure can foster innovation and help institutions collaborate with industry.
