For Nima Kianipour, BCIT’s hands-on education provided the foundation for a career in one of the world’s most innovative technology companies. After graduating from the Mechanical Engineering degree program, he joined Tesla as a Mechanical Test Engineer, where he works on validating and improving advanced engineering systems.

Fazmin Mohamed‘s career path highlights the leadership opportunities available to BCIT engineering graduates. Today, he serves as Director of Manufacturing, Facilities and Digital Platforms at Svante, a Vancouver-based carbon capture technology company. Prior to joining Svante, Fazmin held engineering leadership roles at Tesla, supporting major manufacturing programs for the Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck.

Don Marcellus, now Director of Hydraulic Services at Boundary Equipment, represents another example of the lasting impact of BCIT’s applied engineering education. Having completed both a Mechanical Engineering Technology Design diploma and a Mechanical Engineering degree at BCIT, Don has built a career focused on the design and manufacture of heavy industrial machinery and hydraulic systems.
His work has contributed to major infrastructure projects across British Columbia, including bridges and ferries. Don credits BCIT with helping him bridge the gap between theory and application, emphasizing the value of getting hands-on experience and understanding engineering challenges firsthand.
