Growing up, I was always interested in technology and enjoyed understanding how things worked. I wanted a career that combined hands-on technical work, problem solving, and opportunities to continuously learn. The BCIT Wireless Technologies program stood out because of its strong reputation, practical learning environment, and direct connection to industry.
One of the biggest strengths of the program was the hands-on experience. Rather than focusing solely on theory, we spent significant time working with real equipment and learning how telecommunications systems operate in real-world environments. The program covered a wide range of topics, including networking, radio communications, fibre optics, wireless systems, troubleshooting, and electronic fundamentals. This broad technical foundation gave me the confidence to enter the workforce and adapt to new technologies throughout my career.
The instructors played a major role in my success. Their industry experience provided valuable insight into what employers expect and how telecommunications systems are used in the field. They were approachable, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping students succeed. Many of the lessons and troubleshooting techniques I learned at BCIT are skills that I continue to use in my work today.

Since graduating, I have had the opportunity to work in public safety communications, where reliability and uptime are critical. Knowing that the systems I support help emergency responders communicate during critical situations makes the work both challenging and rewarding. BCIT helped prepare me for this responsibility by teaching me how to approach technical problems methodically, think critically, and work effectively under pressure.
Looking back, attending BCIT was one of the best decisions I made for my career. The program provided not only technical knowledge but also practical experience, professional skills, and industry connections that helped me transition into a meaningful and rewarding career.
