IDEAS (Indigenous, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access, Sustainability, Student Wellbeing) is how BCIT advances seven components that intersect and guide how we collaborate, relate, learn, and work together. The IDEAS Lens Learning Badge is a free professional development program designed to promote IDEAS within the BCIT community and beyond.
The program is currently only available to BCIT employees, with public access planned for a later date.
Description of tiers
There are three different badges you can receive based on how many courses you complete:
Tier 1 – IDEAS Lens Supporter
- IDEAS Lens course (for employees)
- Indigenous Awareness
- Respectful Workplace
Tier 2 – IDEAS Lens Advocate
- Complete Tier 1
- Complete three courses from the eligible courses list below
Tier 3 – IDEAS Lens Ambassador
- Complete Tier 1
- Complete Tier 2
- Complete three additional courses from the eligible courses list below

- Human Rights 101
- Relearning Gender
- Understanding Unconscious Bias
How to obtain your badges
- Review the badge tiers and decide which one you want to work toward.
- Complete the required courses and download the proof of completion (badge and/or statement of completion) for each course.
- Go to the IDEAS Lens course.
- Complete the badge quizzes at the end of the course, which includes uploading your proof of completion.
- You should receive your badge(s) within 5 minutes.
