I am pleased to share an update on the International Strategy that aligns with BCIT’s Strategic and Education Plans. This work is central to our shared commitment to transform teaching and learning at BCIT.
Guided by the Education Plan and the Strategic Plan, the International Strategy will provide a framework for how BCIT will advance global learning pathways, faculty and staff engagement, sustainable and ethical international partnerships, and opportunities that prepare learners for a complex and interconnected world.
To date, the team has completed an environmental scan of peer institutions, gathered data from internal and external partners, and drafted a strategy framework built around six pillars:
- global learning and student success
- faculty and staff global engagement
- applied research for global impact
- partnerships and global development
- sustainability and equity
- institutional resilience
Next steps include community consultations early in the new year, refining priority initiatives and performance indicators, and preparing a full draft of the International Strategy in Spring 2026.
If you or your teams are interested in contributing perspectives or showcasing existing international work, please connect with Global Partnerships. Opportunities for engagement sessions will be shared in 2026.
Thank you,
Derek Lemieux
