We are sharing an update on the Strategic Plan deliverable “Advancing the education strategies of the Sustainability Vision through the development and/or delivery of resources that help faculty integrate sustainability in curriculum and credentials,” that supports our commitment to transform teaching and learning at BCIT.
Informed by our 2024 Sustainability Tracking and Rating System (STARS) report, Institute Sustainability is focusing on sustainability learning outcomes, improving student sustainability literacy, and nurturing a culture of sustainability across the Institute.
To date, we have developed a suite of community outreach and engagement tools and created education resources on our Institute Sustainability intranet site (accessible to employees). We are also updating our existing Climate Change 101 course, developing a new Sustainability 101 course, and supporting the ongoing development of IDEAS Lens resources.
We are excited to be consulting across the BCIT community about the findings of our most recent STARS report, which in addition to education, addresses a host of topics including opportunities for procurement and engagement improvements.
We look forward to connecting with students and employees to collect stories and insights about how we can better serve our community. Stay tuned as we add more education resources to our Intranet site based on these findings.
In the meantime, please also join colleagues in learning about and celebrating sustainability on campus at these upcoming events:
- September 17:
- September 24:
- September 25: World Rivers Day at Guichon Creek
We also welcome employees to join the BCIT Green Team.
Thank you,
