Do you think BIG? Are you a problem solver? Innovator? Visionary?

The 2026 BCIT Student Innovation Challenge is your chance to innovate, compete, and win! If you are a full or part-time student working on an interesting start-up idea or business, or an innovative class project, this competition is the perfect venue to take your idea to the next level.

Win prizes in one of two categories

Great ideas need resources to grow. The Student Innovation Challenge has two categories, Entrepreneurship and Applied Research, with three cash prizes in each category: 1st Place: $3,000, 2nd Place: $1,500 and 3rd Place: $500.

You don’t need a perfect idea

You don’t need a company, a prototype, or a finished business plan to enter, you just need a strong idea and a clear problem you want to solve. This competition is about exploring your ideas and learning about the process of bringing an idea to life.

Gain experience and recognition

The Student Innovation Challenge is an opportunity to refine and present your idea. Whether you’re looking to impress future employers, attract investors, or launch your own venture, participating in the Student Innovation Challenge enhances your skills and resume, and it helps builds your confidence and credibility as an innovator.

Turn your class project into cash

Working on a Capstone project, Industry Sponsored Student Project (ISSP), Directed Studies, or other class applied research project? Use the Challenge to earn cash and showcase how your class applied research project solves a real-world problem.

Entering the 2026 Student innovation Challenge is easy

It only takes a 2-page submission. Visit BCIT Student Innovation Challenge for competition guidelines, submission requirements and key deadlines.

Deadline to apply, April 3,2026.
