I am sharing an update on the Strategic Plan deliverable “Migrate public website infrastructure to the cloud to enhance educational continuity, strengthen data protection, and improve the digital experience for students, faculty and staff,” that supports our commitment to catalyze digital transformation at BCIT.
To strengthen BCIT’s digital infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted access to critical public information, the Public Web Resilience project was launched with a clear goal: to maintain BCIT’s public website presence even in the event of a data centre outage. This initiative reflects our commitment to reliability, integration of cloud technologies and service continuity – especially during times when timely communication is essential.
We’re pleased to share that a technical approach has now been selected, and development of a proof of concept is actively underway. This marks a significant milestone in the project, as we move from planning into implementation.
Looking ahead to the coming months, our team will commence testing actual public web content in the cloud to ensure it functions as expected. Our plan is to have the cloud environment available for failover by the end of March 2026.
Thank you,
Fraser Robertson
