Advance a shared BCIT-specific definition of Universal Design for Learning

BCIT Burnaby letter statue

We are sharing an update on the Strategic Plan deliverable “Advance a shared BCIT-specific definition of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and promote inclusive, accessible, and wellbeing-informed teaching practices in alignment with the Student Wellbeing Action Plan.” This work supports our commitment to transform teaching and learning at BCIT.

We are dedicated to promoting universal design in our teaching and learning practices at BCIT with the aim of increasing accessibility for all.

To date, the UDL Community of Practice (CoP) has written a definition of what UDL means in the context of teaching and learning at BCIT.  We are currently seeking feedback on this definition from community members across the Institute.

We aim to share this definition broadly on a webpage dedicated to UDL at BCIT by Spring 2026.

Thank you,

Claudine Warburton and Michele Bridge, Instructional Development Consultants, Learning and Teaching Centre
