BCIT Resident Advisor: Living in the Tall Timber Student Housing

Noel Joseph, Resident Advisor

Hi everyone. My name is Noel Joseph, and I am in my final year of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at BCIT. I recently moved into Tall Timber Student Housing, where I am one of several Resident Advisors supporting students in the building. As a Resident Advisor, I work closely with the BCIT Student Housing Office team to ensure a safe and positive living environment for everyone.

To prepare you for a smooth move into this new residence building, here are some things to note:

About the Building

Tall Timber Student Housing is a 12-storey building designed to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for BCIT students living on campus. The main floor is primarily administration and common spaces, including the lobby, front desk, and the Manager, Residence Life’s office. The Manager, Residence Life also lives onsite and supports student wellbeing and the overall residence community.

On the main floor, you’ll find two study rooms fully equipped with large TVs and conferencing equipment, and a Great Lounge with a fireplace, which are perfect for studying and socializing.

Floors 2 to 12 are home to residential units and additional common spaces. Each unit is fully furnished with a bed, desk, chair, and drawers, so you can settle in right away. One accessible unit on each floor supports barrier-free living for students with mobility challenges.

Every floor features:

  • A common lounge for connection and community-building
  • A flex room for small social and recreational activities, such as meditation and yoga.
  • Up to two resident advisors live on each floor.

Floors 2 to 6 have a shared kitchen on each floor to support independent living and meal preparation.

Unit types and layouts

  • Floors 2–6: Connected single rooms.
  • Floors 7–12: Studio apartments.

Student Housing offers Women-Only, Men-Only and All-Gender living options.
