I am sharing an update on the Strategic Plan deliverable, “Launch and deliver new alumni engagement programs.” This important work supports our commitment to enrich partner and industry experiences at BCIT.
This deliverable focuses on expanding alumni engagement through new professional development, networking, and lifelong learning opportunities that connect alumni with BCIT, industry partners, and one another. The new programming supports career development, entrepreneurship, and ongoing engagement with the BCIT community.
During year two of Strategic Plan implementation, Alumni Relations has continued to expand programming through entrepreneurship-focused webinars, career development workshops, and new engagement opportunities for alumni and students. Building on positive participant feedback, the Career Assessment Workshop is expanding from one session to two, with offerings planned in both Burnaby and Downtown Vancouver.
These programs help alumni and students develop career-ready skills, expand their professional networks, and access practical learning opportunities beyond the classroom. Connecting students with alumni and industry professionals provides valuable opportunities to learn from real-world experiences, explore career pathways, and build relationships that can support their transitions into the workforce. By strengthening relationships, this work creates a continuum of engagement that supports student life through alumni careers and reinforces BCIT Alumni Association’s lifelong relationship with graduates.
This October, Alumni Relations will launch a new online Work and AI workshop focused on the impact of artificial intelligence in the workplace. Additional Career Assessment Workshops will be offered in Burnaby and Downtown Vancouver, and the award-winning How to Talk to Strangers event will return for a third offering this November.
BCIT faculty, staff, and partners are encouraged to share these opportunities with alumni and students who may benefit from professional development and networking programs.
