An update on the INSPIRE Campaign

BCIT-Health-Sciences-Centre-01-1024×477

I’m providing an update on a deliverable I’m leading, which falls under Initiative #6: Cultivate exceptional learning environments and communities through technology and sustainable campus development.

I’m focused on the implementation of INSPIRE, the largest fundraising campaign in BCIT‘s history which was formally launched in December 2019. Together with a strong and committed volunteer Campaign Cabinet and talented Advancement Team, our plan to raise $125 million in private sector support is on track. It is providing key support for the ambitious infrastructure renewal plans at the Burnaby Campus as well as providing much needed financial resources for Access and inclusion; and Teaching and Learning Innovation.

It is clear that the pandemic will likely have some impact on timing of gifts in 2020/2021. We are working hard with our donors and prospects and have been inspired by their continued support for this important campaign which will keep us on target for our overall goal.

As the Health Sciences Centre moves towards a successful conclusion of its fundraising goal, our new top priorities will shift to Student Housing and the Trades and Technology Complex. With strong indications of support for these projects and $7.5 million in private sector support already pledged to the Trades and Technology Complex, we are confident and excited at the prospect of seeing these two important initiatives moving forward in the coming months.

To date, we’ve:

  • Raised $56.6 million towards the INSPIRE Campaign’s $125 million goal;
  • We are close to achieving the $11.7 million fundraising goal for the Health Sciences Centre;
  • Developed and implemented a comprehensive communication and stewardship strategy to cultivate, secure and recognize donor support and build awareness for BCIT and the INSPIRE Campaign;
  • Implemented a strong engagement and reporting structure for Campaign Cabinet and Patrons, led by the Campaign Chair and supported by the Advancement Team, to ensure that we are tracking progress of the campaign, including monitoring the impact of COVID-19; and,
  • Raised $160,000 for the COVID-19 Emergency Student Response Fund in response to the immense financial pressures students were facing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We invite the BCIT community to learn more and join us on this journey. Please visit our Campaign website, contact any member of our Foundation team, and share the BCIT story with industry partners, alumni, individuals and corporations to inspire their support for the Campaign.

Thank you and take care,
