Reimagining BCIT’s approach to employee experience

I am sharing an update on the Strategic Plan deliverable “Reimagine BCIT’s approach to employee experience, working with the community to understand BCIT-specific drivers of engagement, define associated measures, and establish a meaningful assessment process that resonates across the institute.” This work supports our commitment to foster vibrant and inclusive communities at BCIT.

The People, Culture, and Inclusion team is focused establishing strategies and actions to increase employee engagement based on the community feedback and best practices.

To date, we have conducted an institute-wide assessment of employee engagement activities over the past five years to determine effectiveness/impact and recommend a new employee engagement strategy that meets the unique needs of BCIT and post-secondary environments. Our employee engagement recommendations are to focus and redirect our investment of resources on engagement actions versus conducting surveys.

We look forward to presenting our recommendations to our Executive Team and the Board of Governors (HR Committee) Q3 FY25/26 and to implementing our plan going forward in FY26/27. Currently, we have implemented initial employee engagement actions focusing on customized, curated leadership and team effectiveness and change management solutions that meet the unique needs of our academic departments/schools and service portfolios. These actions are based on feedback and insights from all levels of the Institute, management/excluded, and included staff.Look for updates on our People, Culture, and Inclusion PD Opportunities newsletter and Intranet for key employee engagement actions and deliverables that we will be implementing and how you can participate and support.
