We are sharing an update on the Strategic Plan deliverable, “Launching of tiered IDEAS Learning Badge for employees and students who complete the newly created IDEAS online learning module and other IDEAS related online learning modules.” This important work supports our commitment to foster vibrant and inclusive communities at BCIT.
The IDEAS Working Group is launching a tiered learning badge for employees and students to recognize the completion of free, online learning modules related to learning about Indigenous reconciliation, inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, sustainability, and student wellbeing.
We are currently working on a new IDEAS course that will introduce the IDEAS concept to the BCIT community. In addition, we have finalized the structure of the tiers and working on the badge styles and embedding the structure in the backend.
This learning badge will equip employees with the knowledge to foster learning and working environments that are respectful, inclusive, and supportive for everyone. By applying the IDEAS Lens in our communities, BCIT reduces barriers and strengthens belonging, which helps students feel supported and engaged to succeed in their studies.
Updates will be shared later this year when the IDEAS course and learning badges are complete.
We encourage all employees to complete any of the courses in the IDEAS tab of the Employee Learning Centre (scroll to the bottom of the home page). Many courses in the IDEAS Lens Learning badge are available to take, including Indigenous Awareness, Anti-Racism, Human Rights 101, Relearning Gender, and Unconscious Bias.
