Clear professional development processes for all available funds

I am sharing an update on the Strategic Plan deliverable I’m leading, which falls under our commitment to being a people-focused organization and the initiative for faculty and staff development.

Having completed the review of Professional Development (PD) funds at BCIT, this year’s focus for the Strategic PD Funds Committee is to continue providing guidance, oversight, and support by sharing best practices to enable employee access to funds.

The committee continues to meet quarterly to discuss progress and is proud to report:

  1. Faculty and Staff Association (FSA) Super PD moved online in January 2020; processes greatly improved
  2. Management PD moved online in August 2020 with similar results
  3. BCGEU Faculty 0.6 fund will transition online in April 2021
  4. BCGEU Support Staff PD Fund Committee clarifying guidelines and processes for enhanced fund bargained recently.
  5. FSA 10.3 committee created post bargaining to clarify criteria and support enhanced fund management.
  6. FSA Part-Time Studies PD Fund has been created and is preparing to launch on April 1, 2021.
