The BCIT United Way Halloween Pancake Breakfast brought retro vibes, maple syrup, and plenty of generosity to the BCIT Burnaby Campus on October 31. Hosted at the NE4 Carpentry Shop, the event featured an ’80s theme, complete with neon outfits, costumes, and a steady stream of pancakes and coffee for attendees.
Thanks to the incredible energy of participants, volunteers, and sponsors, this year’s breakfast raised $9,533.75, which will go toward United Way BC programs that help vulnerable children, families, and seniors across the Lower Mainland.
The BCIT School of Construction and the Environment, alongside the leadership of Marita Luk and her team, were instrumental in supporting the event and helping ensure everything ran smoothly.
“I’m proud to see our students, staff, faculty and industry partners unite for such an important cause,” says Dr. Guido Wimmers, Dean, BCIT School of Construction and the Environment. “The BCIT community has come together to celebrate and to make a positive impact for those who need it most.”
The event wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of sponsors, including Chartwells, BCITSA, RWC Systems, Smith Bros. & Wilson, Ledcor, PCL Westcoast Constructors, ETRO Construction, Mark’s Commercial, Paladin Security, DeWalt, BEST, Trus Joist – Weyerhaeuser, Coca-Cola, Sysco, and EllisDon.
The Halloween Pancake Breakfast is a BCIT tradition that combines fun and philanthropy, and this year’s turnout proved that community spirit continues to be alive and well. Thank you to everyone who joined and contributed to making a difference.
