Hands-on heat pump training is coming to your region

BCIT is offering regional deliveries of MZEB 3110: Residential Air-to-Air Heat Pump Installation Skills in communities across British Columbia.

This five-day, hands-on course helps experienced tradespeople build practical skills in small residential heat pump installation, commissioning and troubleshooting—without travelling to BCIT Burnaby.

Is the course for you?

For journeypersons or final-level apprentices

MZEB 3110 is intended for Plumber, Gasfitter, Pipefitter/steamfitter, Sheetmetal Worker or Refrigeration and AC Mechanic* journeypersons or final-level apprentices.*.  You will need to provide proof of your trade qualification or apprenticeship level and a valid ODP/ODS certificate.

Home Performance Contractor Network Training Pathway

MZEB 3110 is required for individuals seeking or maintaining membership in the HPSC HVAC Contractor Network who do not hold a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic (RACM) Trade Qualification.  Individuals with a RACM Trade Qualification may complete either MZEB 3110 or MZEB 3120. MZEB 3120 recognizes prior RACM learning and includes an online assessment of knowledge applied to small residential heat pump installations. RACM-qualified individuals may still choose MZEB 3110 if they would benefit from additional hands-on installation and commissioning practice.

What will you learn?

MZEB 3110 provides experienced tradespeople with 45-hours of hands-on practise installing, commissioning and troubleshooting residential air source heat pump systems. During the course, learners work with residential heat pump equipment and build practical skills in areas including: ducted and ductless heat pump installation, ductwork assessment and modification, refrigerant handling and lineset installation, system controls (including for dual-fuel systems), start-up and commissioning, including testing and troubleshooting.  For more details on the course check here www.bcit.ca/mzeb3110.
