The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Breena Jackson as Interim Associate Dean, Industrial Construction, in the School of Construction and the Environment. Breena begins her one-year interim role on July 6, 2026.

Breena brings a strong combination of teaching experience, industry expertise, and a deep connection to applied trades education at BCIT. A member of the BCIT community since 2016, she has taught in the Cabinetmaking program and supported students through hands-on learning that reflects the realities of industry. As a Red Seal Joiner, Breena brings extensive experience in woodworking, installation, drafting, CNC programming, and project management.

In addition to her teaching role, Breena has contributed to BCIT’s work in sustainable construction as a Mass Timber Project Manager. Her experience reflects BCIT’s leadership in innovative building practices and its role in preparing learners for the evolving needs of BC’s construction industry.

Breena holds a Master of Education in Equity Studies in Education, which informs her approach to teaching, mentorship, and leadership. She is committed to creating inclusive and accessible learning environments where students can build confidence, develop practical skills, and prepare for meaningful careers in the trades.

As Associate Dean, Breena will lead and support programs across industrial construction, working alongside faculty and staff to strengthen student learning, industry connection, and program delivery in one of BCIT’s core trades areas.

Her appointment marks an exciting chapter for Industrial Construction, as the department continues to build on its reputation for hands-on, industry-connected education that prepares graduates for the future of construction.

BCIT also extends its sincere thanks to David Dunn for his leadership during this transition period and for his continued support of the School of Construction and the Environment.

Congratulations, Breena!
